Hole 3 at Penati Golf Resort

Work is progressing on a unique 36-hole golf resort at the Penati Golf Resort at ŠajdíkoveHumence,Slovakia. Located only 79 km from the historical city ofBratislavathe golf courses are situated on 205 ha of ideal golfing terrain.

The first 18 hole golf course has been designed by the world renowned golf course design firm Nicklaus Design. The course which is the first Nicklaus Design course in Slovakia currently has 13 holes complete and work is ongoing to finish the last five holes.

Construction is being finished by Polish golf contractor Golf Projekt with final seeding to be completed before October 2011.

In parallel with the ongoing construction work on the Nicklaus Design course, the design for the second 18-hole golf course has been entrusted to Jonathan Davison and his company Create Golf.

The second 18 hole course will be a natural and rustic design to contrast the resort style of the Nicklaus Design Course.

Speaking about the project Jonathan describes the site: “An architect’s dream site, pure sand, pine trees and heather. It has a look similar to the heathlands around Surrey, and my inspiration for the design is taken direct from these classic courses. It is rare in the golf design industry to ever build a golf course in pure sand, this is my second in a row after I recently completed Sobienie Krolewskie Golf and Country Club close toWarsaw,Poland.”

The second golf course will also be shaped by renowned shaper Mick McShane, whose work includes The Castle Course and Kingsbarns in St Andrews.
