8.35am 6th August 2009 - Course Development

Troon Golf®, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage the Golf operations for Mediterannia Saidia Golf.

Mediterrania Saidia, the resort in which the golf course will sit, is a magical tourist destination in north east Morocco, facing the shores of Almeria, Spain. Built adjacent to 6 km of breathtaking coastline in the province of Berkane, just a few miles from Oujda airport, the resort enjoys a setting which will allow it to become one of the premier resorts in Morocco’s burgeoning tourism plans.

On the doorstep of Europe, The Palmeral golf course will be one of the finest in the region and the first to be completed in the resort. The quality of the first 18 holes has been subject to much praise from those fortunate to have seen it and future plans for the region would suggest Mediterannia Saidia will become the new Mecca for golf in the Mediterranean.

“Morocco has set some impressive targets of becoming one of the top new golf destinations. With plans for resorts such as Mediterannia Saidia and the vision of H.M. King Mohammed VI to wisely promote such a stunning region, should see Morocco and Mediterannia Saidia prosper,” stated Bruce Glasco, Troon Golf’s managing director, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “We have worked closely with the development team and are committed to partnering with Mediterannia Saidia to create what will be one of the most stunning pieces of land in Morocco and the rest of the world.”

The golf course itself will measure 6,800 yards, par 72. Designed by Spanish designer Francisco Segales, the ideally located course meanders through a pristine natural environment and offers some spectacular views of indigenous plant life and an impressive lake, all adding to the tranquility of the experience.

Set to open in the coming weeks, the latest addition to the Moroccan golf portfolio will no doubt catch the imagination of all who play. With all the latest state-of-the-art amenities, including the very best in practice facility, The Palmeral course will cater to the needs of a variety of standards. With a view to welcoming top golf events in the near future, the commitment from Mediterannia Saidia will no doubt see this resort elevate itself on to many international golfers’ prospective golf destinations.
