On 7th May 2015 a brand new £500k state-of-the-art golf driving range & academy will open to the general public at the George Washington Golf Club. The new range comprises of 14 luxury heated bays, featuring 6 bays with ‘Power Tee’ automation, plus both an internal and external golf teaching and custom fit facility, with the latest Flightscope technology as well as new, relaxing half way house. The club will be offering a loyalty discount card offering a host of benefits.

With 7th May 2015 being Election Day in the U.K. the driving range will add a topical flavour to the day as range users can take out their frustrations on life size images of Conservative leader David Cameron, Labour chief Ed Miliband, Liberal Democrat Nick Clegg or the UK Independence Party’s Nigel Farage, as they all will replace targets on the range.

General Manager, Martin Hall, told GBN.com, “The idea has gathered momentum as it is the ideal opportunity to use this new wonderful facility whilst you choose who to aim at! We are waiting until the morning to decide who will be the nearest target for our golfers. Opinions are running high with many contrasting views. Maybe we should place Mr Farage wide right on the range but, I am sure at least one of them will be still sitting on the driving range fence come Friday morning. One thing I am sure of is we will all have a great time on the range.

“This new driving range and academy project will provide the very best practice facilities for golfers of all ages and ability in the North East. The Golf Club launch its junior and ladies group teaching academies shortly, which we believe to be two keys areas in the development of golf as a sport.

“This wonderful new driving range compliments the George Washington Golf Club which also offers an 18 hole championship golf course; Par 3 course; putting and chipping area and a new clubhouse. The Golf Club now offers the very best facilities to every level of golfer.”
