The Centurion Club, near St Albans, has signed an exclusive machinery deal with leading turf maintenance equipment supplier, Toro.

The deal comes just after the Centurion Club has finalised its planning consent to complete the opening three holes through mature woodland, ready for the course opening in mid-summer 2013

Under the terms of the deal, Toro will supply the Centurion Club with a wide range of machinery including greens, fairway and rough mowers, heavy duty utility vehicles, rotary ride-ons, sprayers, spin topdressers and debris blowers.

“I am delighted to announce that we have signed an exclusive machinery deal with Toro,” said Centurion Club Managing Director, Scott Evans, who co-owns the new high end private member’s club in partnership with Chairman, Graham Wildish, and Dutch Partners; Bert Pronk and André Hendriks.

“We want the Centurion Club to be a club of unrivalled quality, which is why we have involved Southern Golf and Troon Golf at such an early stage of the development, alongside Simon Gidman (course designer) and Ian Mutch (clubhouse architect) to oversee all planning

“All these companies and people are acknowledged leaders in their respective fields and it is the same with Toro. They have a reputation for excellence and that is important to all of us at The Centurion Club. When you want the best, you have to work with the best” he added.

“It is a great pleasure that we have agreed this exclusive deal with the Centurion Club,” said Jeff Anguige of Toro’s distributor LelyUK, “The Club is already being lauded as one of the best new courses in England and is certain to be a huge success when it opens next summer.”

The Centurion Club is built on a picturesque parcel of land to the south west of the Roman city of St Albans and just half an hour’s drive from London. The Club is not just in a perfect location for City workers looking for a haven in the countryside but is a mere 10 miles from north London and just a matter of minutes from the affluent conurbations of Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Garden City.
