The Belfry to host ISPS HANDA UK Championship behind closed doors

10.58am 21st August 2020 - Course Development

The Belfry Hotel & Resort will play host to next week’s ISPS HANDA UK Championship as the first section of the European Tour’s ‘UK Swing’ comes to an end.

The Warwickshire-based resort will be off limits to the general public from August 24-30 to host the one-off tournament, which is being held behind closed doors in order to ensure safety and wellbeing of all players, guests and staff.

James Macbeth Stewart, Resort Director at The Belfry, said: “The Belfry is very proud to be hosting the ISPS HANDA UK Championship, which will take place on our award-winning Brabazon course. The Brabazon is world-class and boasts a rich golfing history, having previously hosted a number of significant golf events including The Ryder Cup four times – more than any other venue in the world – and 16 European Tour events, producing some of the most dramatic moments in the history of golf.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and will see the best players in the game back on The Belfry’s most iconic course, including Lee Westwood, Matt Wallace, Bernd Wiesberger, Danny Willett and Martin Kaymer.
