Royal Norwich Joins IMG Prestige

1.55pm 15th January 2020 - Course Development

IMG has announced that Royal Norwich Golf Club has joined the IMG Prestige global reciprocal network.

The new Royal Norwich course at Weston Estate has opened recently, with Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter playing the inaugural round to mark the completion of the 10-year vision to create a world class sporting venue in the region and recognise the first time a ‘Royal’ golf course has ever relocated to a new site.

The new course has been designed by Ross McMurray of European Golf Design, who has a portfolio of successful projects under his belt including the Celtic Manor 2010 Ryder Cup Course in Wales, The Marquess Course at Woburn and upgrades at Le Golf National for the 2018 Ryder Cup.

Royal Norwich features a completely redesigned 18-hole course, 6-hole academy course, practice range, state-of-the-art turf care centre and a new clubhouse boasting modern meeting rooms, restaurant, bar and pro shop.

Russell Hannah, Senior Director, IMG Golf, commented: “Royal Norwich is another fantastic addition to the IMG Prestige global network. European Golf Design has earned an enviable reputation for producing successful resort, members and tournament golf courses, and have created something very special at Royal Norwich. We’re extremely proud to have the club as part of the programme and believe IMG Prestige members will have a great experience when visiting this part of England”.

Phil Grice, General Manager at Royal Norwich, commented: “After so many years of hard work it’s fantastic to finally open the new course and seeing members and guests enjoying the facilities. Joining the IMG Prestige network is a unique benefit to our members as they now have access to more than 200 premier golf clubs around the world. We’re also confident that any member from the network who visits Royal Norwich will have a very enjoyable experience on and off course.”

IMG Prestige  is a global network of over 200 world class golf courses located across 34 countries.
