This summer sees the official opening of the National Golf & Country Club in Romania, a €60 million private facility that includes a residential property development alongside an 18-hole championship golf course.
Located 30km from Bucharest, in Niculești, the development features an 18-hole golf course, a golf academy, a residential complex of 173 villas and 111 apartments, a fine-dining restaurant, dedicated event spaces, and additional leisure facilities, including tennis courts and a swimming pool.
The course, which was designed by the Stirling & Martin Golf Course Architects, had a soft opening last year and has already hosted over 35 tournaments, including last week’s World Amateur Golfers Championship, the winner of which will represent Romania at the world finals held in Korea in October, alongside teams from over 40 countries.

Metin Doğan, founder of National Golf & Country Club, said: “Our vision was to create more than a golf course – we wanted to establish an international benchmark for Romania, a place that brings together sport, architecture, hospitality, and a strong sense of community.
“National Golf & Country Club is the result of a long-term commitment to excellence. We aim not only to bring Romanian golf enthusiasts back home, but also to attract a global audience seeking authentic, high-quality experiences. We believe Romania deserves such a destination, and that it can become a regional point of reference in the years ahead.”

In addition to its competitive calendar, NGCC will also feature a golf academy which aims to build a strong local golf community while supporting elite performance development through foundational programs, educational partnerships, and annual competitions.
“With the club nearing full operational capacity, we believe Romania is now firmly positioned on the map of Europe’s top golf destinations,” added Doğan. “This launch comes at a time when luxury and premium experiences are increasingly visible locally. We want to help turn Bucharest into a destination that welcomes global elites in sports, business, and the arts.”
Indvidiual adult annual membership is €2200, while weekend/weekday visitor green fees are €100/€70.
