A great result that has been achieved by Head Greenkeeper Dan Harden at Cardiff Golf Club, with the help of Headland Amenity’s Elevate FE.

The 18–hole parkland course is in the centre of Wales’s capital city, and is kept busy year round by enthusiastic members.

“I decided that I would like to improve the presentation of the fairways as part of a general drive to higher standards at the club, and Elevate FE has enabled me to achieve this in a cost effective way,” Dan explains.

With around 11ha of undulating fairways, Dan comments that the application of 30l/ha Elevate FE was an economical operation, starting in March and with the added convenience of being able to tank mix with soluble feed for the vital April spray, as it does not react with other products in the spray tank. The iron is bound into a nitrogen complex, which makes Elevate FE highly versatile when used in a nutrient programme.

“We then used Elevate FE on its own, and the speed of the green-up that it provides is very impressive,” he says. “We plan to mix it with a low rate of soluble feed again in June, so Elevate FE can give the fairways the boost they need without encouraging a flush of grass.”

Dan also points out the safe formulation of Elevate FE as an advantage, eliminating the black residue and wheel marks that can be seen after applying other iron products, allowing him to use it with confidence on tees and approaches as well as fairways.

“It really is easy to use, and the large 750 litre or 1000 litre IBC packaging makes it very convenient,” he comments. “Elevate FE is also very clean, with no unpleasant smell.”

Dan, who has been at the club for 11 years with six as Head Greenkeeper, adds that he has been very happy with Elevate FE.

“I haven’t found another iron product that can match Elevate FE for effectiveness or value for money,” he says.
