Lumine Golf Club, on Spain’s Costa Daurada, has turned in an impressive Q1 performance with a monumental 220% year-on-year growth in inbound rounds compared with the same period in 2013. The luxury Spanish resort has made its mark on the European golf travel market, with tour operators and consumers rich in praise for the packages and experiences on offer.
Outperforming its forecasted rate of uptake from core European golf markets, Lumine Golf Club has seen growth across all traditional markets with significant gains from Scandinavia, defying current industry trends in Spain.
A key player behind the results, General Manger, Calle Carlsson, said: “These results demonstrate the benefits of our trade and consumer engagement strategy over the past year. Hosting the International Golf Travel Market in 2013 was hugely significant in elevating ourselves within new and feeder markets, as tour operators experienced first-hand our service and amenities. Meanwhile, we have become increasingly recognised by elite golfers and fans as host to the Nordea Tour’s Winter Series, European Tour Q School, federation training camps and the Challenge Tour’s upcoming Challenge de Catalunya.”
Quickly establishing itself as a main player in the golf and leisure tourism sector, Lumine Golf Club is not only gaining a reputation for its 45 holes of world-class golf, but also for its location within a region affording visitors a diverse holiday experience.
“Our packages allow guests to tailor-make their holiday,” added Carlsson. “We focus on presenting consistently immaculate golf courses and offering value for money while cooperating with our leisure and hospitality partners. This allows us to offer our guests a unique holiday on the Costa Daurada, combining golf with celebrated Catalan cuisine, culture and blue flag beaches.”
Guests have various hotel options surrounding the Troon-managed resort at varying price points. Visitors to the region can enjoy the acclaimed Lumine Beach Club affording the perfect après golf relaxation, stunning Mediterranean cuisine and wine-tasting in the distinguished Priorat wine region. For the thrill seekers, one of Europe’s biggest theme parks – PortAventura – lies within the resort, whilst nearby Salou boasts some of the country’s most-loved dance venues, regularly graced by internationally renowned DJs.
One of Europe’s most diverse golfing destinations, LUMINE Golf Club includes the Greg Norman designed Lakes Course which plays host to the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 and the more traditional Hills Course which runs through pine and olive trees with spectacular views of the nearby coastline. The two championship courses are further complimented by the aptly named 9-hole Ruins Course, another Norman design that weaves its way through Roman archaeological remains completing the diverse 45-hole offering of immaculately presented facilities that caters for golfers of all ages and abilities.
