Range Solutions has announced two recent driving range refurbishments. They have played a key role in giving a new modern and professional look for 2014 to Branston Golf and Country Club in Burton upon Trent and to Woodlands Driving Range in Barnsley, Yorkshire.

For the last twenty years Range Solutions have worked throughout the UK and Ireland fitting bespoke netted bay dividers, carpet tiles and outfield targets to well-known golf establishments such as Celtic Manor, The Belfry and World of Golf.

Branston Golf and Country Club is one of the busiest facilities in the Midlands with a 1,200 strong golf membership. Conveniently located just off the A38 in Burton upon Trent, the club offers two golf courses, a floodlit driving range, leisure facilities, restaurants and also caters for special events.

The driving range is open to the public seven days a week offering twenty two bays to practice in with three golf professionals working full time. A year ago Joe Docksey was appointed to the position of Academy Manager and work has just been completed on a full refurbishment to the driving range and pro shop.

Joe said: “Twelve months ago I became academy manager at Branston Golf Academy. The driving range facilities were looking dated and old so my first goal was to improve the driving range.

“We have had the same look for fourteen years with wooden dividers and green covers. I felt it was important we kept up-to-date and promote a modern image at our academy so with the help of the managing directors we set about providing better facilities for our members to practice and learn.”

The range now boasts a new professional look with hanging netted bay dividers, stanchion covers for added safety and carpet tiles to help distinguish individual bays and the main walkway. The pro shop has become part of the growing Union Golf chain and in May the golf academy now plans to open a custom fit studio.

Woodlands Driving Range in Staincross, Barnsley, opened over twenty years ago and is situated next to Barnsley Golf Club. This month the range has gone through some major improvements which wouldn’t have been possible without the successful take over in June 2013 by Dan Konyk.

Dan Konyk, a class A qualified PGA professional with over 15 year coaching experience, is best renowned for having one of the longest drives in the world at 448 yards. He is the current reigning and two time UK long drive champion and ten time world championship finalist.

With Dan’s success he has taken over the Woodlands Driving Range and opened a teaching school under the name UK Power Golf Academy. One of his first goals was to improve the whole facility.

“I took over Woodlands in June of last year and I immediately set out an action plan of what I wanted to achieve. From the outset the range was dated with wooden dividers, small bays and concrete flooring so a lot of work was needed.

“The driving range now has a more contemporary feel with carpet, netted bay dividers and matching stanchion covers. There is also a small sports lounge and teaching studio. To the outside there is now grass tees, pitching and short game area. ”
