Power Tee Joins The Veterans!

7.19pm 4th April 2019 - Courses

Built in 1957, American Lake Veterans Golf Course (ALVGC) was opened to veterans for recreation and relaxation. The mission of the American Lake Veterans Golf Course is to provide services to veterans and their legal dependents, and the main objective is to provide affordable, enjoyable golf for veterans and their families.

The facility has continued to make improvements since opening. In 2004, the Friends of ALVGC was formed, and since has provided over $8 million worth of improvements to the golf course, including building a $1.4 million Rehabilitation Learning Center with full indoor training simulators (Full Swing), providing $3 million for the new back nine holes, funding the $600k irrigation system and buying 12 mobility-impaired golf carts and more than 72 new golf carts through the Cart Sponsorship Program.

Being the only ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compatible golf course in the country, ALVGC decided to add 10 Power Tee systems to their facility as well. Bruce Mckenty, General Manager at ALVGC says, “We have many disabled and older veterans who play here. It is extremely difficult for a disabled golfer in a mobility impaired golf cart to tee up a ball at the driving range. It is equally difficult for the older veterans to tee up balls. Power Tee will make this much easier and more enjoyable for these golfers.”

Mckenty also adds, “The American Lake Veterans Golf Course is proud to be in partnership with Power Tee. They have worked with us to make this venture affordable and enjoyable. They have allowed us to provide a service to our deserving veterans. We are truly the envy of the golf courses in the Great Northwest. I believe we are the first golf course in the Northwest United States to have Power Tee!”

Power Tee is just as ready for the opportunity to work with ALVGC and can’t wait to see all the veterans Power Tee impacts. Power Tee Director, Ross Jones adds, “John Mazzuca [Assistant Manager at ALVGC] and Bruce are really great guys, who dedicate their time to help veterans enjoy their life and keep their independence. We are all touched by the sacrifices that have been made and what ALVGC do. Power Tee enables adaptive golfers and those with disabilities to improve and enjoy the game of golf. It gives us great satisfaction to know we are helping others achieve their goal and we are very proud to be part of the journey”
