Portsmouth Golf Centre has successfully completed a two year program which has seen an extensive £200,000 refurbishment to its golf shop, coaching and custom fitting studios, bays, mats, flooring and bay dividers. The success of the golf centre which is in its 35th year can be contributed to the long standing owner Terry Healy who is well respected within the golf industry and also to the hard work from the team of PGA pros over the years.
Portsmouth Golf Centre which is a founder member of the Euro-Select Golf Alliance consists of an eighteen hole public golf course, a twenty bay floodlit driving range with coaching and custom fitting studios and a thousand square foot golf shop which stocks all the leading brands. For the past two years the centre has undergone significant changes and in particular the driving range has had the latest Power Tees installed and a designated five bay Huxley coaching area fitted. It was then tasked with Range Solutions to add the finishing touches by providing new carpeting and bespoke made netted bay dividers.
Range Solutions was delighted to be the final partner in this whole process but this wasn’t the first time Alwena, the director of Range Solutions explains: “In 1999 we were contracted through a third party to refurbish the driving range so I was delighted to be given the opportunity to come fifteen years later and do it again.”
The flooring was completely replaced throughout after exceeding all expectations and lasting since the first installation 15 years ago. Alwena said “the carpet tiles are particularly suited for driving ranges due to their quality, longevity and being suited to all weathers”, “Two colours of spike range carpet tiles were fitted to designate the walkway and individual bays which give the range a safer distinction of areas, whilst complementing the netted bay dividers superbly”. “Terry Healy was extremely professional and welcoming, we had a number of discussions on what we wanted to achieve and our aim was to provide Portsmouth Golf Centre with a new modern 21st century look. A prototype netted divider was designed and trialled to ensure Terry and his team were happy with the finished design.”
The driving range was done in two sections in order to minimise disruption as work on the range took just over a week to complete but the end result has been very pleasing. Terry Healy owner at Portsmouth GC said: “The modern netted bay dividers have made the bays feel lighter, airier and bigger. The finished result has exceeded our best hopes and our customer reaction has been superb.”
Alwena commented: “We are extremely happy with the end result and I wish Portsmouth GC all the success in the future. I have made a note in my diary for the year 2029 so we will be ready to do it again if Portsmouth GC gives us the opportunity to come back!”
