Braemar Golf, the St Andrews, Scotland based international golf management company, has teamed up with Russian construction company Geokam to create the ‘best of both worlds’ partnership in the construction of the PGA National Russia golf course at the Bolshoye Zavidovo Resort, near Moscow.

Jonathan Pendry, Golf Courses Director for Braemar Golf commented: “Our client has been very insistent that we use the skills and local experience of the Geokam construction company, so our role has been to support our partner with specialist help and our global experience in golf course construction techniques. Their local knowledge and experience in the Russian construction industry has been of great benefit to the success of the project, and this has led to great teamwork and significant savings for our client from his original construction cost estimates.”

Dave Sampson, Golf Course Architect for European Golf Design said: “Braemar Golf and the local contractor have formed an ideal partnership that is reflected in the quantity and quality of work being delivered onsite. The blend of expert project management, hugely talented shapers and local knowledge is delivering and enhancing the design vision”.

The PGA National Russia golf course is part of a new master planned mixed use integrated resort, Bolshoye Zavidovo, being developed by OPIN Investment and Development Group. Located in the Tver Region on the shores of the Ivankovskoye reservoir, approximately 100km from Moscow, it is a region popular and well known with Muscovites.

The golf course is being designed by European Golf Design and will be a 7,400 yard, par 72 and will be complemented by a 9 hole course and the PGA National Russia Golf Academy which will be a state of the training facility unrivalled in Russia.

Jonathan Pendry continued: “Already we are receiving enquiries from other developers in Russia and elsewhere in Europe about how we might collaborate with local contractors and our experience with Geokam is a template for possible future partnerships. Through working together we can truly offer clients the best of both worlds.”

Braemar Golf is supplying project and construction management services, shapers and various specialists, managing the entire construction of the golf course alongside the local construction contractor and golf course architects European Golf Design. The golf course is planned to open by 2011 with Braemar Golf providing operational management services.
