Patshull Park Golf and Country Club in Shropshire have taken delivery of a Jacobsen Eclipse 322 diesel-electric hybrid mower from Jacobsen UK Direct*. The new mower, which replaces a competitor brand, is fitted with groomers and rear roller brushes and will be used to maintain the greens on the 18-hole championship course in Shropshire.
Malcolm Mitchell has been at Patshull Park and Country Club for 12 years, eight as Assistant Greenkeeper and for the past four years as Head Greenkeeper. Commenting on the purchase of the Eclipse 322 he said, “The greens mower is the most important piece of kit for the club, so when looking for a replacement for our old machine, we wanted to ensure that we evaluated all of our options. We needed to make a decision based on which machine would suit our course and give us the best quality of cut. We all unreservedly agreed that the Eclipse 322 machine matched all of our criteria.
“The ability to programme and control the frequency of cut ensures that we can match our mowing regime to the prevailing conditions. Servicing is also simple with the swing out rear unit. In these economically testing times, the reduced running costs of the Eclipse was also a deciding factor for us. Of course, a great comfort to the team is that there is no risk of hydraulic oil leaks – as there isn’t any hydraulic oil in the machine!

Patshull Park Golf Course was designed in 1978 by John Jacobs and completed in 1979. Set in picturesque parkland, the modern-day course attracts a diverse range of players looking to hone their golfing skills on the relatively short, but challenging course.
