Oitavos Dunes joins the IMG Prestige network

1.19pm 22nd February 2019 - Courses

Oitavos rolls out an Arthur Hills design that peers down at the Atlantic Ocean at every turn and traverses three distinct landscapes, from dense stands of umbrella pines to sprawling, scrub-covered dunes to open, coastal transition areas bracketed by vegetation and buffeted by sea breezes. Only 20 minutes from Lisbon, Oitavos Dunes and The Oitavos Hotel are situated in the pretty coastal town of Cascais, alongside Sintra’s Mountain and Europe’s most westerly point, Cabo da Roca.

“We’re extremely happy to join IMG Prestige. The network features premier golf properties around the globe which have a close association with IMG, so it’s great for us to be connected to a company with so much history in the game of golf. We’re sure our members will take good advantage of the programme and anyone coming to Oitavos Dunes will have an amazing experience” commented Rodrigo Champalimaud, Board member of Oitavos Dunes.

Oitavos Dunes is the only Portuguese Golf Course in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Golf Courses in the World. Oitavos has climbed the ranking from its entry in 2009 at #88 to the lofty position of #55 in the most recent ranking. Golf Magazine’s biennial Top 100 Courses in the World rankings are determined by a 100-strong international panel whose members include major-championship winners, architects, journalists and connoisseurs who have played all of the world’s top 100 courses.

“We’re delighted to partner with a championship course such as Oitavos Dunes and I would like to welcome them to the network. Golf Magazine’s recognition as one of the best in the world and being chosen for GolfSixes tells you a lot about its quality. The amazing views and consistency on offering excellent playing conditions make it a great addition to the IMG Prestige programme.” added Russell Hannah, Senior Director, IMG Golf.
