Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, one of Ireland’s most prestigious and historic golfing venues, is teeing off new partnerships with both Synergy Golf, Ireland’s leading golf management company, and Mark Heinemann, golf professional, to build a brand-new vision for the club.

This vision will see Synergy Golf manage the day-to-day operations of the professional shop and the marketing and revenue growth for the club. While new Head Professional, Mark Heinemann, will return to the club with a renewed plan for coaching and practicing. The appointments are driven by a bid to boost performance of the overall business and ultimately to enhance the playing experience for both members and visitors.

Located in Killarney National Park and surrounded by the lakes of Lough Leane, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is a world class destination. Four-time host to the Irish Open Championship and home to two 18-hole courses, Killeen and Mahony’s Point and a 9-hole course, Lackabane, it boasts 1,700 local and international members, welcomes over 10,000 international golfers annually and is the honorary home to many golfing greats including Rory McIlroy, Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Nick Faldo, Ross Fisher and many more…

Over the past few years, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club has invested over €1m in improving the golf courses and this is set to continue this year. Together, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club and their new management partners are investing over €200,000 into the facility over the next few months. Through the new partnerships, the club is looking to significantly increase business performance over the next 3 years. The focus will be on driving green fee revenue, enhancing partnerships with local enterprises and establishing an improved international footprint for the venue. The outcome will be beneficial for not only Killarney Golf & Fishing Club but will also bring a boost to tourism.

Synergy Golf has a proven track record in successfully managing, operating, maintaining and marketing some of Ireland’s busiest golfing venues. The expert team combines years of golf club management and marketing experience to offer Ireland’s most comprehensive suite of management services. Synergy Golf will now take on the day to day management and operations of the professional shop at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club and though Synergy Golf’s sister company, My Golf Group, leaders in the field of golf marketing, business development and revenue growth, the team will be delivering a complete bespoke marketing and revenue solution for the club.

Men’s Captain James Curran and Ladies’ Captain Mary Sheehy at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, both noted the need for changes at the club: “The golf industry has had a difficult few years, we ourselves experienced a decline in revenue and visitor numbers. To tackle these issues, we reviewed the overall approach and knew we needed a new vision for the club, hence, we are delighted to engage with Synergy Golf and Mark Heinemann. We are excited to be working together to develop our relationship and increase the performance of the club for both our members and visitors.

Speaking about embarking on his new role Mark Heinemann, new Head Professional at Killarney Golf Club, an advanced PGA professional and just the fourth professional at the club in its 126 year history, following on from Christy O’Connor SNR, Tony Coveney and David Keating, said: “Killarney has always held a special place in my heart, and I’ve been waiting for the right time to re-join the club. I’m delighted to be returning to one of the most prestigious courses in Ireland and for the opportunity it provides to further enhance my coaching career. I’ll be investing in the coaching facilities and equipment, combined with the soon-to-be completed improvement programme of the practice facilities, all with the aim of helping the members and guests achieve their golfing goals for 2019 and beyond. It’s exciting to be part of the new management team and I’m looking forward to working together with the club and the guys at Synergy Golf to bring new changes, enhanced improvements and success to this exceptional facility.”

Andy Kenny, Director at Synergy Golf says our team are very much looking forward to working with everyone at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. Together, and in line with existing core values, we will develop and deliver a platform upon which all future business success can be built: “We will work closely with the management council, men’s and ladies’ committees and local stakeholders to offer the members and visitors an unforgettable customer experience. Over the coming weeks, we are committed to relaunching a newly designed state of the art professional shop and in addition, we will begin to implement the strategies which have been carefully designed to assist with achieving the desired goals of the management council. We are very proud to be associated with this magnificent venue and are excited to be part of its future.”
