New hotel at Vigiers concludes €8 million programme

Chateau des Vigiers Golf & Country Club has put the finishing touches to an €8 million investment programme with the opening of a new 40-bedroom hotel at the exclusive resort in the south-west of France.

The new luxurious four-star hotel ‘Relais des Vigiers’ has been built under strict ‘eco friendly’ standards using only local and traditional materials to create a modern and dynamic building whose inspiration is drawn from local tobacco barns.

Each room offers en-suite walk-in showers and a balcony or terrace with magnificent views overlooking the 450-acre estate and ‘Relais des Vigiers’ has been designed specifically with golfers, families or business people in mind.

As well as three conference rooms, the new hotel also has a bar, breakfast room, swimming pool and fitness room, and means Chateau des Vigiers can now offer 87 hotel rooms, two restaurants, a 27-hole championship golf course and extensive practice facilities, tennis courts, luxury spa and beauty centre – and even its own vineyard.

Bernard Pà©tine, managing director of the resort in the Dordogne, said, “At Ch®teau des Vigiers everything is developed with consideration for the local environment and architectural traditions.

“The new additions at the hotel will benefit both golfers and non-golfers alike. With enhanced facilities and comfort, visitors will experience the stunning beauty of the Dordogne in a truly unique and relaxing environment.”

The opening of ‘Relais des Vigiers’ is the final phase of development work at the converted 16th century chateau, which is situated between Bordeaux and Bergerac and opened in 1991.

A third 9-hole course also designed by renowned golf architect Donald Steel was opened to widespread acclaim at the start April. The par 36, 3,575 yard, La Vallà©e course has been built to integrate with the existing 18-hole course and will allow Chateau des Vigiers to offer three 9-hole loops – Les Vignes, Le Lac and La Vallà©e.

Bernard Pà©tine added, “We believe we have something special to offer for everyone at Chateau De Vigiers. It truly is a world class destination and we are very proud of what we have achieved here both in the past and present and we have high hopes for the future of the resort.”

As well as its extensive golf and leisure facilities, Chateau des Vigiers also has its own 17-hectare vineyard producing 100,000 estate bottles of AOC Bergerac wine every year.

There are direct flights from several airports to both Bergerac and Bordeaux.
