Là¼bker Golf Resort is Best says GOLF Magazine

1.06am 12th December 2008 - Course Development

Là¼bker Golf Resort in Djursland, Denmark has been chosen as”Best New International Golf Course 2008”by the highly respected GOLF Magazine in the United States.

This is one of many accolades given to the course by the international golf experts and international press that attended the opening of Là¼bker golf Resort in September. Là¼bker Golf Resort has had the honour of being nominated for many prestigious awards that have never before been given in Denmark. These nominations have resulted in the appointment of “Best New International Golf course 2008” by GOLF Magazine.

“Naturally I am very proud that we have been nominated for several awards, and it is wonderful that such a highly respected magazine as GOLF Magazine have chosen us as the Best International Golf Course 2008” says founder Poul Anker Là¼bker.

“This shows that we have really thought out our strategy. We chose a highly recognised international golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones II, to design the course and the staff to maintain the course led by an incredibly experienced head greenkeeper, Derek Grendowicz, who has experience from many of the world’s biggest tournaments. We never compromise on quality”

Debt free golf course
Despite the high demand – and the subsequent substantial investment – Northern Europe’s most luxurious golf course is debt free. From May 2006 to April 2007 the entire facility has been financed by the sale of shares, currently traded at First North on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In this era of global turbulence in the financial world, to be debt free is the most solid weapon against economic challenges and although share values are currently rising and falling with the speed of elevators in a busy hotel, the international recognition will ensure success for the patient investor.

GOLF Magazine, who are owned by the TIME Group, also runs magazines such as Sports Illustrated and the TV channel CNN. The designation will be published in the January 2009 issue of GOLF Magazine, but has already been revealed on the TIME website GOLF.com, where Là¼bker Golf Resort® is compared to the Spanish championship course, Valderrama.

”Scandinavia’s answer to Valderrama is this flawlessly conditioned 27-hole Robert Trent Jones II design in the Jutland region of Denmark, three hours from Copenhagen. Of the three nines, Sand and Sky form the premier pairing, while Forest is a less challenging loop”.

”Lead architect Bruce Charlton employed a variety of bold bunkering styles to create strategic interest throughout, but what sends scores soaring is the heavily contoured greens and their surrounds, which make par saves a heroic endeavour. With numerous wetlands in play (and a Viking graveyard alongside the course), Là¼bker will entertain and challenge, but its remarkable course conditioning sets it apart”, GOLF Magazine writes.
