Lough Erne to Host Europe’s First Faldo Academy

9.17am 6th August 2010 - Course Development

Lough Erne Resort in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, is set to offer the Faldo method of golf coaching to its visitors after announcing plans to open the first Faldo Academy in Europe this autumn.

With construction already well underway on the Faldo Academy at Lough Erne, the facility is scheduled for completion in September when it will begin offering tailored tuition packages to golfers of all abilities.

The academy will include a swing studio that will allow for private tuition with state-of-the-art video technology. A classroom facility adjacent to the swing studio and an eight-bay indoor range will provide the perfect location for teams from across Europe to conduct game-improvement and team-development training sessions. Group classes for beginners will also enable golfers to have fun while learning the basic fundamentals of the game within a customised time-frame.

Faldo commented: “I’m delighted that Lough Erne is to open the first Faldo Academy in Europe this year as it is the perfect location for what will be a very different kind of teaching facility. All of our visitors, whether they are talented players or complete beginners, will be schooled through my own methodology of golf training, incorporating many of the game-building techniques that I have amassed during my 30-year career. Our facilities will be second-to-none and with my own Faldo Championship Golf Course within chipping distance of the facility, players will have the ideal place to perfect all that they have learned in the Faldo Academy at Lough Erne.”

Lynn McCool, Director of Golf & Head Professional at Lough Erne Resort, added: “I am very much looking forward to working within the Faldo Academy at Lough Erne. The structure of the indoor and outdoor facilities will allow my team of professionals and I to provide an array of golf packages from which we hope our visitors will find real benefits, whether they are talented players or just starting out.”

All Faldo Academies are designed on a bespoke basis by Faldo’s golf course design practice, Faldo Design, a multi-award winning company with design experience in over 25 countries worldwide. Always designed with the golf course in mind, each Faldo Academy promotes a structured practice environment that reflects Faldo’s approach, enabling players to perfect the many different shots that they could face on the golf course.

Further Faldo Academies at Lavasa, India, and Katameya Dunes, Egypt, are set to open early in 2011. Details can be found at www.nickfaldo.com. For further details on the Faldo Academy at Lough Erne: www.lougherneresort.com/golf/the_faldo_academy.
