Keltbray Secures Planning at Chipping Norton Golf Club

7.50am 8th June 2012 - Course Development

Chipping Norton Golf Club

Keltbray Golf Environmental has secured planning from West Oxfordshire District Council for a contract worth in excess of £600,000 to re-profile selected holes within the existing Chipping Norton Golf Club course, and to develop a new 14 bay driving range, a 3-hole Golf Academy with associated pro shop and office space in partnership with the Club.

Later this month Keltbray will start work to provide 95,000 tonnes of engineered soil material over a 12-month period as part of this project.

Chairman of Chipping Norton Golf Club, David Newton, is confident permission for the fourteen bay 300 yard floodlit driving range, practice area and par 3 Academy Course will help secure the future for the Club and its members: “The route to obtaining planning has been arduous; however, following the involvement of Keltbray, with their expertise and professional approach, it has resulted in a successful conclusion. The Club looks forward to working alongside Keltbray during the construction period and providing a fantastic facility for our members and the general public.”

Keltbray Golf Environmental specialises in the sustainable design and construction of golf courses, leisure facilities and restoration. The company can also offer to use reclaimed materials, and works in partnership with golf clubs nationwide to transform technically poor and contaminated soils from nearby construction sites into clean inert material for use in landscaping and the creation of new landforms.

Managing Director of Keltbray Golf Environmental, David Jenner, said: “Chipping Norton Golf Club was founded in 1890, and in 2011 it was voted one of the best courses in Oxfordshire by National Golfer Magazine. We’re delighted planning has now been granted, so that we can help make this course even better. The new facilities will help encourage youth development and the project has been specifically designed so not to disrupt golfers from playing on the existing 18 hole course.”

The new practice facility is estimated to be completed by next summer.
