INFINITUM to carry out Lakes course bunker renovation project

8.26am 16th February 2024 - Course Development

INFINITUM, the award-winning golf and lifestyle resort on Spain’s Costa Dorada, is preparing for another year of growth – led by an €800,000 enhancement of its Greg Norman-designed Lakes course.

Host of the DP World Tour’s ISPS Handa Championship in Spain in 2022 – as well as five-time host of the Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage alongside the neighbouring Hills course – the Lakes will undergo extensive bunker remodelling and renovation to cement its credentials as one of Europe’s best modern layouts.

The resort has also announced the release of eight new properties, each with sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. Starting at €850,000, the latest additions to INFINITUM’s growing residential community are expected to live up to the popularity of its first 150 homes, more than 90% of which were sold within a year. They headline Phase Two of the Catalan destination’s real estate portfolio, which also includes 38 detached, semi-detached and terraced villas and 81 seaside family homes, is on track to be completed from 2025.

The announcements follow another successful year for INFINITUM, which saw a revenue boost of more than 30% across their golf courses when compared to 2022 as well as a 34% increase in direct bookings. Growth is expected to continue in 2024, with the resort already experiencing a 25% rise in business from the same time last year.

Meanwhile, the experience at the Hills Course took another step forward last May thanks to the launch of the Terrace at Hills, a new restaurant in the clubhouse. With impressive views of the course, the restaurant puts zero km food – meaning ingredients that have travelled less than 100km to reach the guest’s plate – under the spotlight.

In November, it was confirmed that DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage will return to INFINITUM’s Hills and Lakes courses in 2024, marking the resort’s sixth time hosting the 108-hole tournament.

Joaquín Mora Bertrán, director of golf at INFINITUM, said: “Every year we strive to improve our offering across the board, and we’re delighted that our efforts have once again been rewarded with significant business success and several highly respected accolades.

“With DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage returning in November, this feels like the perfect time to take our Lakes course to the next level. We’re also proud to elevate our residential project once more with the construction of phase two and eight prime location properties and look forward to welcoming many more people to our growing community.”

INFINITUM’s two championship courses are complemented by the nine-hole Ruins Course and an array of practice facilities, including the new Callaway Performance Centre.
