10.30pm 26th September 2018 - Course Development

IMG has been appointed to provide international marketing and full-management services on a multi-year basis to Royal Golf La Bagnaia, part of the stunning La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort in Tuscany, Italy.

Surrounded by the beautiful Sienese countryside, La Bagnaia is a tranquil oasis set against a landscape scattered with charming medieval hamlets and towns. The golf course, designed by the award-winning architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr, and opened in 2009, is draped across the rolling Sienna hills and offers a unique inland links experience with undulating fairways and sweeping fescue roughs. Expansive practice facilities include a short game and pitch & putt area and the Clubhouse, a painstakingly restored Tuscan farmhouse, overlooks the 18th green, providing golfers with an authentic and luxurious place to relax and enjoy the views towards ancient Sienna whilst sampling the finest Tuscan ingredients and produce.

Spread over 1,100 hectares, the upscale Curio by Hilton hotel has a village-like look and feel, divided across a number of buildings and featuring two main ‘hamlets’ – Borgo La Bagnaia and Borgo la Filetta. The resort includes the luxurious Buddha Spa by Clarins and a range of facilities for leisure and business travellers including two restaurants and two bars, three swimming pools, 12 treatment rooms, a tennis court, and conference rooms which combined cater for almost 1,000 delegates

“We are delighted to partner with the unique and historic La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort and welcome them proudly to our growing portfolio of world-class clubs and resorts across Europe and beyond. The combination of IMG’s unique expertise and global reach with the passion, knowledge and experience of the La Bagnaia team will ensure that it receives the International recognition and success it so clearly deserves.” said Russell Hannah, IMG Senior Director, Golf.

Marisa Monti Riffeser, Owner & President of La Bagania Golf & Spa Resort added, “We are proud to announce this strategic partnership with IMG, which is part of the internationalization process of our Resort, started with the inclusion of the structure within the Curio by Hilton selection. The love of our family for this land is well known – and it was therefore natural to invest in La Bagnaia to bring it back to its former glory. Over the last few years, our country is gaining a reputation of being as a world-class golf destination and this will be strengthened when we host the Ryder Cup in Rome in 2022. The collaboration with IMG will allow the Royal Golf La Bagnaia to gain an international visibility, while remaining true to the vision of the great Robert Trent Jones, Jr., who originally designed the course with the aim of hosting great golf tournaments and to promote Tuscany and its territory.”

La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena can be reached from a number of international airports, and also has excellent car, bus and rail links. The resort is 95km from Florence Peretola Airport and 130 km from Pisa International Airport, both of which provide regular domestic and international flights. Siena-Ampugnano Airport is only 7km away, while Siena’s main railway station is 30km from La Bagnaia and also offers access to a number of national rail services. Many frequent bus services are also available, and the hotel is easily accessed by car and holds 360 car parking spaces.

IMG has designed many award-winning golf courses and currently manages over 20 world class clubs and resorts across the globe.
