Grassmoor Golf Centre Successfully Transforms Driving Range

11.27am 10th May 2013 - Course Development

Grassmoor Bay DividersGrassmoor Golf Centre was established in 1992 and is well known for being a very friendly club and one that welcomes all standards of golfers. It is ideally situated one mile south east of Chesterfield, just off junction 29 of the M1.

Grassmoor Carpet TilesGrassmoor has been given the reputation of being one of the best courses in its area, with some of the finest greens in Derbyshire and now offers a newly improved driving range that provides twenty covered bays, is two hundred and fifty yards long and is also floodlit.

The bar and restaurant is open to the public offering good home cooked traditional food at affordable prices. Not only has the driving range undergone a complete new refit, the golf course has undergone a major redevelopment and improvement program over the last five years which includes eight new greens, fourteen new tees, additional fairway bunkers and better drainage.

Helen Hagues, manager of Grassmoor, said: “The range was closed for sixteen months and obviously this had a massive effect on revenue, not only range income but also fewer customers through the shop and bar. The old range looked tired and extensive work was needed on the outfield to improve drainage, give better definition and making it more pleasing to the eye.

“Now the Driving Range has undergone a complete new refit, offering twenty covered floodlit bays, an extended roof to keep our customers dry (in most weathers), new top of the range practice mats, a brand new carpeted walkway, sponsored bay dividers and new two piece range balls. In addition, a new state of the art indoor putting green and a new fully enclosed heated teaching and custom fitting bay has been built which will make it the only one of its kind in the area (this will be available later on in the year).

GrassmoorTitleist Bay Dividers“The outfield has been totally re-designed with fantastic raised 6060 golf targets, driving poles and even a new exciting game that you can play on your smart phone to give a real focus to your play, this will surely make practising more interesting for most golfers.”

Range Solutions carried out all the fitting work with the 60 60 targets, bay dividers, carpeted walkway and mats.

Alwena Beresford, director of Range Solutions said: “From day one with the initial meeting with Helen and Gary, they had a clear vision of how they wanted the driving Range to look and what facilities it would potentially offer its customers. It was a pleasure working with them to help them achieve their goals”.
