Troon Golf has been appointed to manage Don Golf & Country Club, located near Rostov-on-Don in the historic town of Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya, Russia. The agreement contributes to the company’s growing international portfolio and marks the first facility managed by Troon Golf in Russia.
Designed by German architect Volker Puschel, the course will maintain the environmental and cultural considerations of the area by seamlessly blending into its natural surroundings. When complete, the club will feature an 18-hole course with the first nine holes scheduled to open in the summer of 2008. The club has also launched a golf academy after opening three practice holes in 2007, utilizing the new driving range, putting green, and chipping area.

The projects’ developers are planning to build a five-star hotel featuring panoramic lake views, located in the center of the complex. The 160-room hotel is scheduled to open in 2010, with first-class amenities including a yacht club, tennis courts, horse ranch, polo field and a sandy beach. Plans also call for a “golf village” consisting of a cluster of luxurious villas and family cottages.
