IMG Golf Course Services has been appointed to provide management and marketing services to the new Erbil Hills development in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Featuring the country’s first championship golf course, designed by Cynthia Dye McGarey of Dye Designs, the development will also feature 300 exclusive residences that surround the golf course and which will offer a new style of luxury living in the region.

The golf course is currently in the grow-in stage with nine holes due to open in Summer 2022. IMG are providing extensive support across multiple areas in order to ensure the golf facilities open on time, on budget and to the required standards.

Russell Hannah, Senior Director, IMG Golf Course Services, commented: “We’re delighted to partner with Erbil Hills and support the owners’ vision of making the property a new bench-mark in the region. Erbil Hills is a truly unique development that will offer all members, guests and residents an active, healthy lifestyle and we are pleased to play a part in this landmark golf project in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.”

Hassan Gozal, Chairman at First Quantum Capital, commented: “We believe that working with IMG will help consolidate our vision of creating something never seen before in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. We are committed to creating a world-class facility and we’re all very excited to have IMG and their experienced international team involved in our golf course development.”

The golf course will be irrigated throughout, with water coming from several wells located on site. Toro’s irrigation products have been selected on the project, with Turkish distributor Golf International providing the materials and supervising the installation, which was completed in autumn 2020.
