Els Club to expand leisure facilities

11.42am 20th May 2019 - Course Development

The Els Club at Dubai Sports City has announced that work has begun on brand new leisure facilities, which will see an expansion of the current clubhouse to include a new gym, swimming pool, restaurant, children’s play area and resort-style relaxing facilities for all the family.

Drawing upon the original design concept, The Els Club is looking to unveil a stunning extension to its Mediterranean-inspired clubhouse, expanding its five-star facilities for both golf club and leisure members to enjoy. Doubling the size of the current clubhouse facilities, the extension is set to complete in the autumn of 2019 ahead of the peak golfing and outdoor season.

Features include a ‘resort style’ pool with a 25-metre section for lengths, a pool bar, a kid’s pool and fun wet area. A new ‘urban chic’ style gym will feature extensive indoor and outdoor space for invigorating classes and workouts, and the clubhouse will include a new restaurant, grooming salon and new locker room. The club will continue to operate its facilities throughout the planned construction works.

Speaking ahead of the project, Khalid Al Zarooni, President of Dubai Sports City said: “Just over a decade ago, we had a vision to not only bring the pristine condition of our golf course to the attention of Dubai’s visitors and residents but also everything that goes with that to attract potential new members. Whether it’s our personalised guest service, or our world-class retail and food and beverage offerings, The Els Club will continue to have something for everyone in 2019 and beyond.”

Karl Whitehead, general manager of The Els Club, added: “This bold move to extend the clubhouse underscores the way we operate. It’s our creativity, energy and enthusiasm. It’s the attention to detail we provide both on and off the golf course, which now makes our membership even more competitive with this value-add offering being especially appealing to families.”

First opened in 2008, The Els Club boasts an 18-hole championship course designed by Ernie Els, which is managed by Troon.
