Golf course architectural firm Coore & Crenshaw has been commissioned to design a new short course at Streamsong Resort in Florida.
The new course will join the Red, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2012, the Blue, laid out by Tom Doak in 2014, and the Black, a 2017 design by Gil Hanse.
The new course will be the shortest of the four courses at the resort, with holes expected to range from between 70 and 300 yards. Early routings for the 18-hole layout include the potential for a six- and 12-hole loop, while there will be no specified tee markers.
The course will be built on a 100-acre site that features several lakes. It will be located within walking distance of The Lodge at Streamsong and will wind through native oaks, mine cuts and along the banks of Little Payne Creek.
“Comprised of moss draped oaks, lakes and sand-based landforms, the site for the short course is dramatically gifted for golf,” said Bill Coore. “And although smaller in scale and different in character from the Blue, Black and Red courses, we believe the site has the potential to complement the amazing golf experiences that have made Streamsong one of our nation’s most highly acclaimed golf destinations.”
Streamsong – which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year – also will add another putting course near the new course. It is projected to be larger than the resort’s popular Gauntlet putting course at the Black Course’s clubhouse. Food and beverage components will be constructed alongside the new short course and putting course with a dedicated clubhouse.
