The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales has lined up a series of special events to mark the passing of ten years since it hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup.

A series of special #Twenty10th promotions will run throughout the year, starting with a Ryder Cup-style group golf event, where teams of 12 players are being invited to take part, with the captain playing free of charge.

There will also be prizes offered for hole-in-ones of the Twenty Ten Course’s 10th hole once the season is in full swing, while ‘Magic Mondays’ will see a series of monthly golf days with Ryder Cup tees and pin positions back in play to pose the ultimate test for competing golfers. Winners will qualify for a grand final, marking the October date of the original ‘Magic Monday’ in 2010, when Europe clinched a thrilling last-gasp victory in the first Ryder Cup forced into an extra day because of bad weather.

The autumn anniversary dates will also be marked with two special weekend packages. ‘Stay, Play and Cheer Away’ on September 25-27, as the 2020 Ryder Cup takes place Stateside when the live action can be watched into the night following a day on the course at this famous Ryder Cup venue. Or golfers can follow in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and many of the world’s greatest golfers by teeing up at Celtic Manor in the first weekend of October, exactly 10 years after all the drama.

Celtic Manor Chief Executive Ian Edwards said: “A lot of exciting things have happened in the 10 years since we staged the Ryder Cup, but it is still the event we are best known for. Our guests love seeing the constant reminders of the matches that we have dotted around our hotels and clubhouses, but we will be ramping up those celebrations to mark our #Twenty10th Anniversary during 2020. We have some great incentives for golfers to come and see what made us such a great Ryder Cup venue, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to join our celebrations in this special year.”
