Carnoustie Golf Links has promoted Craig Boath to the role of Links Superintendent at the venue of last year’s The Open Championship.
A well-known and experienced individual within the greenkeeping industry, Boath is moving from his role as Head Greenkeeper of Carnoustie’s Championship Course.
Boath began working at Carnoustie in 1996 as an apprentice greenkeeper on the Championship Course, followed by spells on the Buddon Links and Burnside courses. In January 2007, ahead of The 136th Open, he became Deputy Head Greenkeeper of the Championship Course, before being promoted to Head Greenkeeper in 2012.
In his 23 years at the Links, Boath has been a part of three Open Championships, two Senior Opens and one Women’s British Open.
Michael Wells, Chief Executive of Carnoustie Golf Links, said: “We are delighted that Craig has accepted the position of Links Superintendent. He has dedicated his entire professional career to greenkeeping at Carnoustie and has done an incredible job throughout his 20-plus years at the Links.”
