At Trentham GC in Staffordshire Gaunt Golf Design has been working with Profusion Environmental and their team on a total bunker (56 in total) remodelling project at this high-profile, Harry Colt designed, parkland course.
Profusion has done amazing job of completing the work on budget and on time – the Club is thoroughly delighted with the result.
The team started work back in November 2020 with a masterplanning exercise that involved the assessment of all bunkers, drainage, water features and woodland management. The Masterplan was finalised in June 2021 along with hole-by-hole plans for all 18 holes, illustrating all course improvements, focussed, especially on a return to Harry Colt’s original design strategy.
Profusion won the tender to undertake all course works under our supervision. The team, including Dougie Walker, supervised all construction work on site, which involved marking out of all bunkers, swales, run-offs and surrounds reshaping, then, marking out/definition of sand lines in all reshaped/remodelled and new bunkers, and final sign-off of bunkers for turfing works.
The project was split into 2 phases, as follows:
- Phase 1 – October 2021 to January 2022
- Phase 2 – September 2022 to January 2023
The new features should be fully in play by early Summer 2023.
