8.02am 28th July 2008 - Course Development

The 43-bedroom Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, between Calne and Chippenham in Wiltshire, is set to open in May 2009 and is now accepting online reservations via its website

Adjacent to the existing Bowood Golf & Country Club and set back from the 18-hole championship golf course, the Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort will offer six luxury suites among its bedroom inventory, an 82 seat restaurant, a bar and two lounges.

Situated in 2,000 acres of Grade I listed parkland mapped out by the fashionable18th century garden designer, Capability Brown in the 1760s, the arrival of the Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort will add considerably to Bowood’s appeal for golfers, wedding parties, private social events, conference and incentive breaks, corporate entertaining, business meetings and weekend retreats.

“Since Bowood Golf & Country Club opened in 1992 it has proved hugely popular, attracting a wide range of clients. The new hotel will provide even more reason to select Bowood as the perfect choice in the south-west,” comments Bowood’s owner, Lord Lansdowne.

“In the past couple of years, we have launched Bowood Events to stage a variety of open-air concerts, country and trade fairs, family days and product launches. With increasing numbers of visitors heading towards Bowood, the opportunity to stay overnight within this most remarkable oasis will add considerably to their experience. In turn, Bowood’s stunning facilities will also provide hotel guests with unlimited opportunities, such as fishing, archery, garden tours and walking trails as well as golf.”

He adds, “With the hotel scheduled to open in under a year, this is now a key time to be working closely with wedding, meeting and event planners to ensure that they are well aware of Bowood’s many attractions and can plan well in advance for their stay. The recent launch of the new hotel section on our website and the facility to book online is an important part of this process.”
