£1.5m windfall means new club house at Cirencester GC

8.46am 10th April 2009 - Course Development

Cirencester Golf Club and The Pickstock Group announce their plans for a new quality care home which enables the building of a new club house for the Club’s second century on the Cirencester site.

In a joint press release they said, “We are pleased to confirm that we have reached an agreement which provides for a joint planning application to be submitted for a modern Club House and a new Care Home.

“There is a shortage of high quality Care Homes in the area and the needs of our local community will continue to increase with an ageing population. The particular location provided from golf club land will ensure a very pleasant environment for all who live and work there. Jobs will be created, helping the local economy.”

It is understood that the land has been sold for a figure close to £1.5 million. Once planning permission is obtained the golf club directors aim to replace the existing building, originally built for temporary use, with a new high standard club house in keeping with one of the best golf courses in Gloucestershire.

The selected architects are the Cirencester-based Arbuthnott Ladenburg Partnership
