The Grove unveils new loyalty programme

12.33pm 6th July 2020 - Course Development

The Grove in Hertfordshire has introduced a new points-based programme that offers significant savings on green fees, tuition, retail and hospitality to its most regular customers.

An evolution of its popular Green Book scheme, the Clarendon Collection programme is managed via its own online portal and app, where customers can use their points from one of two available packages – Hyde (800 points) or Villiers (1,500 points) – to pre-book golf on the Kyle Phillips-designed Championship course at preferential rates.

The naming of Clarendon Collection, and its two packages, celebrates The Grove’s rich history as the family seat of the Earls of Clarendon, a heritage that dates back to the 1600s.

Anna Darnell, Director of Golf and Leisure at The Grove, said: “Clarendon Collection is a major step forwards from our previous Green Book programme which was, essentially, a summer-only initiative. Customers can now use our flexible points system all-year-round and have greater control of when they wish to play golf, and what savings they can make.”

The dynamic nature of the portal means customers can choose when they redeem points, with a slightly higher value required to play during peak hours, while off-peak tee times require the use of less points.

Golfers purchasing a Hyde experience could, in theory, book up to 20 rounds of summer peak-time golf. If summer golf was played in the twilight booking period, for example, this would increase to 40 rounds. For the maximum playing time, 53 rounds would be possible if every point was used in the winter twilight period.

“Clarendon Collection is our way of offering an attractive, pre-purchase package to golfers that frequently play their golf with us. It is also the perfect platform from which customers can plan smaller group golf outings – that may be with clients, colleagues or friends – as up to eight rounds per day can be redeemed by each customer,” added Darnell.

In addition to receiving points for green fee purchases, Clarendon Collection account holders receive additional benefits, including a complimentary playing lesson from one of the PGA Professional team, a Trackman game analysis session on the range, further discounts on future golf lessons, plus significant savings on food and retail.

The account holder will also be given the opportunity to hold their official golf handicap at The Grove, a service only available to Clarendon Collection customers.
