World Long Drive Victory To Boost Volvik Sales

11.52pm 11th September 2018 - Corporate - This story was updated on Wednesday, September 12th, 2018

Sales of the Volvik VIVID XT distance golf ball are set to fly on the back of Maurice Allen striking the yellow version of the ball 393 yards to claim the World Long Drive Championship title in Oklahoma last week.

The 36-year-old Volvik staffer from Pine Hills, Florida, beat fellow American Justin Moose with the final attempt to take his first world crown, after winning the European Long Drive Championship title in both 2015 and 2016. Competing in front of packed grandstands, Maurice finished ahead of a strong line up, including Britain’s Joe Miller and defending champion Justin James, who hit the VIVID XT ball a mighty 435 yards to win the title last year – a record distance in the WLDC Open Division.

“We expect this victory by Maurice to give sales of the VIVID XT a massive lift,” said Nigel Freemantle, Managing Director of Brand Fusion International, who distribute Volvik golf balls in Europe’s biggest golf market. “The XT is already the top-selling Volvik distance ball in the UK and this validation of its distance benefits can only enhance prospects for future sales,” he added.

The VIVID XT is one of the few 95-compression golf balls on the market and is made with a Zirconium cover for improved durability, without sacrificing spin control. The pioneering balls feature the Volvik-patented VIVID Matte-finish and are available in four different colours – green, yellow, pink and orange at a RRP of £39.99 per dozen.

First staged in 1976, the World Long Drive Championships have become one of the most popular grass-roots sporting events. They feature both amateur and professional golfers in three divisions – Open, Masters (aged 45+) and Women’s. Maurice Allen won a prize of $125,000 and the coveted WLDC belt.
