UK Golf Services celebrates Plimsoll success

12.50am 24th October 2006 - Corporate

The latest Plimsoll Portfolio Analysis has highlighted the rapid rise to success of UK Golf Services, whose brands include Stuburt and Ram Golf.
UKGS has become one of the UK’s 10 most profitable golf equipment manufacturers and wholesalers and is now one of the industry’s 20 largest companies in the sector.
The company is also named as the #5 ‘Best Trading Partner’ in the industry, a key measure of a firm’s combined commercial and financial strength.
At Munich in September 2006, UK Golf Services launched 25 new products including the hotly-tipped Helium Pro shoe from Stuburt and the Serbera equipment range from Ram Golf.
Other Munich launches included 3 new rain suits and 4 other new golf shoes from Stuburt, the budget FX7 Evolution range from Ram, 2 new Ram wedges, 4 new Ram golf bags and 4 new Ram package sets.
“We are naturally pleased to have fared so well in the Plimsoll Report,” said UK Golf Services managing director, Graeme Stevens. “We knew that our own business was good but it is always reassuring to see that we are, to some extent, bucking the industry trend by performing so strongly.
“We are committed to capitalising on our status as golf’s #1 value brand with Ram Golf, and to growing our market share with Stuburt as sales of our golf shoes and rain suits continue to rise fast.”
Operations director Cliff Dews comments, “Munich was superb for us this year. We wrote 30% more orders than we did at the 2005 show, despite attendances being down. We have significantly expanded our European distribution for both brands in 2006, and were able to open discussions with five brand new territories, including Dubai, at this year’s Munich show.”
“We believe that our new Helium Pro golf shoe will be Stuburt’s breakthrough product on a worldwide basis, and we are planning a marketing campaign to ensure that.”
