Business growth agency for the UK and Ireland golf industry, The Revenue Club, has smashed through their fundraising target in their recent quest to play four rounds of golf in a day. Taking on the Longest Day Challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support last month, the 14 strong team completed the golfing marathon in just over 13 hours, playing out the final hole at Ansty Golf Centre, near Coventry as dusk closed in.
Having initially set out to raise £1,000 for the charity, the team has now reached £2,800 with donations still coming in. Playing in support of company director, Chris Knight who recently underwent successful treatment for stage three bowel cancer, it was an emotional day for the whole team.
“I’ve been absolutely bowled over by the number of donations and good wishes from our friends, family and industry acquaintances. It is heartwarming to know that we work in such a close-knit industry with so many connections that value the personal element of our working relationship,” said Chris.
“It was a long day, with some good and bad golf! And the experience of walking down the 72nd fairway felt like quite an achievement after having had surgery only a few months ago,” he concluded.
