The Montgomerie to improve award winning facility

12.07am 23rd June 2008 - Corporate

As part of The Montgomerie’s continual development process to enhance the playing experience, the renowned Dubai course has recently embarked upon a $1.2 million course improvement program which will include: the replacement of greens, the renovation of selected tee areas and the re-engineering of the water system over the next 12 months.

As part of the clubs long range plan, the existing Floradwarf greens are being upgraded to a more regionally adapted grass type for the extreme summer season as the ultra-dwarfs from the late 1990s are now much better understood as to their heat tolerance.

The front nine greens will be replaced with TiffEagle Turf in the low season between 1st June and 30th September 2008 to minimise disruption to members and visitors alike. Troon Golf’s extensive research and testing has concluded that TiffEagle is better suited to the extreme conditions that the UAE face and also to cope with the ever increasing traffic as the courses popularity continues to grow. The greens on the second nine are scheduled to be changed in the low season of 2009.

The Montgomerie, Dubai, designed by Ryder Cup hero Colin Montgomerie, was opened in November 2001 to much critical acclaim and quickly positioned itself as the premier destination in Dubai and the UAE. As the burgeoning golf development industry booms in the UAE, the multi award winning Montgomerie, Dubai maintains the highest levels of quality and service ensuring all guests receive the ultimate golf experience.
