12.39am 15th March 2010 - Corporate - This story was updated on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Golfplan, Europe’s largest specialist golf insurer and Official Supplier of the PGA has teamed up with PGA stablemate Club Car to give golf club captains (mens, ladies and juniors) the opportunity to win a Club Car Precedent i2 for their club, worth over £7,000. All they need to do is support their Pro and co-promote Golfplan at club level. The club generating the most business during the promotion through their Pro will win a Club Car Precedent i2 for their club or Club Car Carryall 232 utility vehicle if they prefer.

The promotion is aimed at encouraging a stronger working relationship between the PGA Golf Professional, Golf Club Captains and the Golf Club Manager with the aim of delivering a drive away prize all clubs could make use of.

Golf Club Captains will need to register their interest online where further details are available. www.golfplan.co.uk and click on the ‘Captains Challenge’ tab. The promotion runsfrom 1 March 2010 to 31 December 2010. Winning Captains will be offered the choice of either a Club Car Precedent i2 or a Club Car Carryall 232 utility vehicle for their club to keep for its lifetime.

Ron Channon, Managing Director of Golfplan commented: “Our aim is to unite the Golf ClubProfessional, Golf Club Secretary and Golf Club Captains to bring benefit all round. We don’t believe a scheme of this kind has come to market before but we recognise, especially in these challenging economic times, that new capital equipment for a golf club is a real boost and a prize worth aiming for. Golf insurance is a long debated subject amongst these key personnel at golf club level, but all three have a key interest in the safety and well-being of all at the golf club and on the course. By raising awareness of the importance of golf insurance at club level, we hope to get the message across that all golfers have a duty of care to others before stepping onto the tee.”

He added: “We’ve taken more calls from concerned Golf Club Managers and Golf Club Professionals over the last 12 months than at any time before in our 25 year history. As professional standards at golf club level rise via such initiatives as the PGA’s Training Academy and the work of the GCMA, golf club executives are more mindful of their liability and the risks that are out there on the golf course every day.”

Golfplan has focused on the Club Pro since its very beginning and has always believed that a PGA Professional is best qualified to assist in the fulfillment of golf equipment claims.

In addition to their PGA Official Supplier status, Golfplan is the only golf insurance specialist able to offer their policyholders a unique, nationwide claims fulfillment network of more than 2,000 PGA Golf Professionals, managed through their in-house Claims Department, based in Bristol. Golfplan’s policies offer a unique package of essential benefits to a golfer as standard including:

Ron Channon commented further: ‘In Ryder Cup year, this is a great opportunity for a club captain to leave a lasting legacy to their club in the form of a golf car as driven by Ryder Captain Colin Montgomerie and a better-equipped club member more mindful of their responsibilities to others on the course.’

Kevin Hart, National Account Manager, Club Car commented: “As a fellow PGA Official Supplier Club Car is delighted and honoured to have been invited to support the inaugural Golf Plan Captains’ Challenge.”
