Cotswold-based golf resort Tewkesbury Park has scooped an award in the Condé Nast Johansens Awards For Excellence 2019.

The 93-room luxury hotel, spa and golf course won Best UK & Ireland Hotel for Weddings, Parties or Special Occasions in the awards ceremony, which took place

on November 5 at The Mayfair Hotel in London.

The ability to host high-quality golf days gave Tewkesbury Park the advantage over the other nominated venues in the category – Tylney Hall in Hampshire and Sopwell House in Hertfordshire.

Coming from the publishers of Vogue, GQ, Tatler, Condé Nast Traveller and Vanity Fair, Condé Nast Johansens is widely regarded as the premier reference guide for independent travellers looking for hand-picked travel experiences.

Recently transformed after a £9m facelift and under new family management, Tewkesbury Park was also recently ranked among Great Britain & Ireland’s top 100 golf resorts.

“To receive national recognition for both aspects of our business – the golfing side and the hotel side – puts the seal on what has been a truly spectacular year for Tewkesbury Park,” said Patrick Jones, General Manager.

“Providing the best-possible stay-and-play golfing experience is a huge focal point for us. Every golf day is definitely a ‘special occasion’ to us, so to be ranked as the UK and Ireland’s premier special occasions destination so soon after our refurbishment is a major validation of our recent investment, and also of the tremendous team effort shown by our staff and our owners. In the last 18 months I believe that we have put Tewkesbury Park at the forefront of golf hotels in the UK.”

Golfers staying overnight now have six brand-new suites to choose from, while three other individually-designed ‘Indulgence’ rooms can also be found in the 18thcentury manor house, and the remainder of Tewkesbury Park’s bedrooms now offer a minimum of four-star style, comfort and interiors.

Tewkesbury Park’s 6,579 yard, 18-hole golf course, which was designed by Frank Pennink, recently completed a major bunker refurbishment programme. Golfers will also find a reconditioned golf course maintained by a fleet of new greenkeeping machinery, plus a new golf shop, and new locker rooms.

The friendly ‘No. 19’ café is a favourite post-golf haunt, or you can indulge your love of gastronomy with fine dishes in the hotel’s new ‘Mint at Tewkesbury Park’ restaurant while enjoying stunning views of some of England’s most beautiful countryside.

Tewkesbury Park is in all respects a first-class proposition in 2019 for UK golfers looking for a memorable golf break.
