The World Hickory Open relied on Golf Genius Software to power the pinnacle event for the hickory community worldwide, when the championship came to East Lothian, Scotland last month.

The three-day event held at the Kilspindie and Gullane golf clubs attracted a global audience including more than 200 professional and amateur golfers from 15 countries from around the world, playing with hickory golf clubs designed before 1935, competing to be the World Hickory Open Champion.

In order to provide first-rate support for such an important event, the World Hickory Open turned to Golf Genius’ industry leading software to provide the perfect framework for superior scoring and integration.

Hamish Steedman, Chairman of the World Hickory Open, offered a glowing endorsement: “We found that Golf Genius far surpassed our expectation on so many levels, the integration to our website was easy and seamless, all the data and scorecards were presented professionally and the service level on offer was absolutely outstanding.

“Some of the headaches which had plagued us before like trying to take payment and entries from around the world and offering entry for five different categories were resolved so easily with the event portal Golf Genius set up. Using the software has significantly enhanced our tournament experience and I would be delighted to recommend it to anyone looking for a quality and affordable events system.”

In addition to managing the registration and entry process with ease, Golf Genius provided digital scoring at the event as well as customised printed scorecards and leaderboards with flags to reflect the International theme of the tournament.

Craig Higgs, Managing Director of Golf Genius International, commented: “The World Hickory Challenge is a fantastic event for us to be associated with. Despite the willingness to keep the traditions of the game alive, the mentality of the players and organisers is still 21st century. We look forward to many more years partnering with this truly global event which is growing year on year as well as providing outstanding software solutions for anyone who wants to improve and enhance their golf tournaments.”
