Segway to Son Gual

12.14am 29th June 2009 - Corporate

It wasn’t so long ago that only the high-end clubs had a ‘fleet’ of golf buggies. But as buggies become de rigueur, Mallorca’s most luxurious golf club, Golf Son Gual, has introduced a fleet of Segways – the ride-on two-wheelers used by TV cameramen at golf events.

Golf Son Gual now has 20 Segway x2 Golf models available for hire for €20 per round to complement any golfer’s enjoyment of one of Europe’s most glorious courses. The Segway, which carries the golf clubs on a special attachment, enables golfers to spend more time as a group between shots, increasing the sociability of their golf, while actually speeding up play.

Golf Son Gual’s managing director, Andreas Pamer, said: “Anybody interested in taking a Segway out on the course can enjoy a free lesson in its use from one of our experienced team and get their ‘Son Gual Segway licence’.

“That entitles them to pay just €20 to take the Segway out on the course. It adds a whole new dimension to the game and just adds to the enjoyment of a round at Golf Son Gual. We are always looking to give our clients something extra and I believe this is another way we have achieved it.”

Golf Son Gual, which recently hosted the inaugural Son Gual Mallorca Senior Open won by former Ryder Cup captain Mark James, has a burgeoning reputation as the holiday island’s best course and is the chosen destination of many of Mallorca’s best-known visitors.
