Ryder Cup rain boosts ProQuip on-course sales

7.35am 21st September 2006 - Corporate

While the heavy wind and rain has been causing problems for organisers and spectators at The K Club this week, there has been a brighter outlook for specialist weatherwear company ProQuip, which is supplying rain suits to the European Ryder Cup Team – and hundreds of visitors needing waterproof clothing.
While the European Team practised in their distinctive blue and gold rain suits, ProQuip’s stand in the official merchandise store was swamped with spectators buying the latest in ultra-lightweight weatherwear to keep them dry and comfortable.
“Everyone is buying rain suits, so business has been fantastic for us today,” said Richard Head, ProQuip’s managing director and chief designer of the European Team’s weatherwear. “We had five staff manning the stand, but we really needed 15 to cope with the demand. We’ve brought hundreds of garments with us and will be selling most of them if the weather continues like this.”
