ProQuip Golf, the world’s leading innovator of lightweight golf weatherwear, is targeting business and sales growth with the appointment of Honeypot Media Ltd to handle its PR and marketing communications.

The Scottish weatherwear company is ready to launch its biggest-ever product range in 2013 and has chosen creative PR consultancy Honeypot Media to spearhead the presentation of its lightweight, quiet and ultra-soft rain suits and outerwear to retailers and golf consumers.

ProQuip has been producing high performance golf weatherwear for over 30 years and has supplied waterproofs to more Ryder Cup teams – European and US – than any other clothing manufacturer.

This year sees the business expand its range of rain suit options, water repellent knitwear, technical base layers and wind garments.

It’s flagship Trophy Suit was launched to market in September 2012 and is inspired by ProQuip’s experience as preferred supplier of weatherwear to the winning 2012 European Ryder Cup team. The suit utilises the same exclusive lightweight, ultra-soft and quiet fabric technology and styling designed for the Ryder Cup players.

Russell Brooks, general manager of ProQuip Golf, said: “2013 is set to be a major year for ProQuip as we aim to build on positive sales growth, increased market share and a heightened buzz around the brand following our involvement in possibly the greatest-ever Ryder Cup comeback at Medinah last year.

We can’t wait to tell the golf world about our most compelling product range ever and are delighted that Honeypot Media will provide the energy, creativity and expertise to do just that.”

Honeypot Media, based in North East England, is headed up by former journalist Matthew Moore, who set-up the company in January 2012 after more than ten years working in journalism and in golf and travel public relations roles at agencies and in-house.

The appointment will see Honeypot Media work across the brand’s marketing portfolio providing media relations and PR support, marketing co-ordination, strategy and social media management.

Sales on the up
ProQuip sales experienced double digit growth in the last six months of 2012, following the UK’s wettest summer for over 100-years, and the firm is eager to continue to grow its share of the golf weather and outerwear market.

Matthew Moore, director, Honeypot Media, said: “ProQuip has always been one of the most respected brands in golf and known for constant innovation and excellence when delivering breathable, quiet, ultra-soft and supremely comfortable rain suits and outerwear.

I am thrilled to be working with ProQuip and look forward to revealing the newest innovations in golf layering technology, water repellent knitwear, wind and weatherwear for 2013.”

The appointment sees Moore represent ProQuip for a second time. The former Golf Monthly journalist managed ProQuip’s PR at Landmark Media International between 2006 and 2008 when it released its ground-breaking Silk Touch rain suit and supplied waterproofs to Europe’s Ryder Cup team at the rain sodden K-Club, Ireland, in 2006.

ProQuip is based in Langholm, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
