Nippon Shaft players proudly held trophies in three of the world’s top tournaments last Sunday after winning on the PGA Tour, the Korn Ferry Tour and the LPGA Tour.
Since golf returned four weeks ago, following the suspension of play because of the coronavirus pandemic, Nippon Shaft boasts a total of seven victories on major professional Tours, with the MODUS³ series recording six wins and the 950GH series grabbing one.
This past weekend, on the PGA Tour, the winner of the Barracuda Championship used Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 105 X flex in his irons to win by one point in the Stableford scoring system. It was the first PGA Tour victory for the 28-year-old former Georgia Tech player, who earned 39 points at Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee, California, near Reno. In addition to a $630,000 winner’s cheque, the champion received exemptions into this week’s PGA Championship and next month’s U.S. Open as well as a two-year playing exemption on the PGA Tour.
In the LPGA’s first tournament back since the coronavirus pandemic shut down golf, a 27-year-old from San Francisco earned her fourth Tour victory at venerable Inverness Club in Toledo. She shot a seven-under par total with rounds of 66, 73 and 70 in the 54-hole event. The champion used the time-honoured N.S.PRO 950GH steel shafts in her irons and wedges and earned $150,000.
Meanwhile, on the Korn Ferry Tour, a 29-year-old out of Georgia Tech recorded his first professional victory using Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO MODUS³ Tour 120 TX flex steel shafts in his irons. He shot seven-under par in the final round of the Pinnacle Bank Championship at the Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, Nebraska for a come-from-behind victory. He finished with an 11-under par total with rounds of 74, 67, 68 and 64, earning $108,000.
“Nippon Shaft is excited to congratulate all three of these young winners,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are pleased that our products contributed to their steady play and remarkable competitiveness.”
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the release of N.S.PRO MODUS³ Tour 120, the first in the MODUS³ series. With four models, MODUS³ shafts have been in the bags of more than 200 players on every major global Tour and have been used in more than 200 Tour victories worldwide.
Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands.
