Nike Golf introducing two new drivers

12.08am 30th December 2008 - Corporate

Continuing its commitment to develop equipment that pushes the boundaries of technological innovation, Nike Golf is introducing two new drivers, the Nike SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and Nike SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT, that are destined to revolutionise the way golfers can shape their tee shots to ensure maximum distance and pinpoint accuracy.

Working on the premise that the longest distance between two points is a straight line, the STR8-FIT technology gives golfers the best chance of hitting their longest, straightest drives by offering eight options to customise the position of the clubface.

The angle at which the clubface makes contact with the ball is the key factor in determining the direction the ball travels, as well as impacting on the shot shape, be it a draw, a fade or dead straight. Most golfers develop a consistent shot pattern over time that is hard to correct through technique alone, which is why the SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and Nike SQ DYMO² STR8-FIT drivers offer the perfect solution for those players who want to reduce the effects of slices or hooks, or promote a draw or a fade, without having to make changes to their grooved swings.

STR8-FIT technology allows the clubhead to be manually orientated into eight different positions to produce the desired shot shape and provide the most efficient means of hitting the ball not only straighter, but longer. There are three different clubhead positions for a ‘closed’ clubface, which encourages shots to be shaped to the left; two positions for a ‘neutral’ clubface, which allows the ball to be shaped in either direction, and three ‘open’ clubface positions, which encourages shots to be shaped to the right.

Clubface angles range from a neutral position of zero degrees, to both one and two degrees, closed or open. In each clubhead position the lie angle also changes, providing the golfer further opportunity to optimise comfort and performance. This unique system allows golfers to self-customise their driver like never before, and to offer shot-shaping ability for all levels of player.

The SQ DYMO and SQ DYMO² drivers draw upon all the technological benefits that made the original SUMO and SUMO² drivers so successful, including confidence-inspiring square and round geometry to offer maximum control and distance.

The standard shaft option is Nike Golf’s UST Proforce AXIV Core (available in weights of 59 grams, 69 grams and 79 grams), which features a strengthening core material for an extremely stable environment at impact, making it easier to swing the club faster and remain in complete control of the clubhead at all times.

Available from Spring 2009 at golf shops and specialty stores with RRP: £360, €520, SEK 4,800
