New Targeted Golf Database Hits the Market

8.05am 21st March 2007 - Corporate

The Golfers Club, the UK’s largest golf membership scheme, has launched a new e-database to the golfing industry this month, offering companies the opportunity to target over 50,000 dedicated golfers.

The launch of the comprehensive e-database is a brand-new venture for The Golfers Club and is the first time that the list of active golfers has been made available to selected companies looking to target a ready-made consumer group with their products and services.

The extensive database has been carefully cultivated over the last three years from members of The Golfers Club, GreenFree 2 for 1 golf users and golf insurance policy holders, and is regularly cleaned and updated to maintain the accuracy of the data.

Says Paul Wilson, director at The Golfers Club, “The database provides a commercially viable and flexible solution for companies who are looking to attract new customers and increase sales from a targeted, affluent group of golf consumers.

“Our list of over 50,000 golfers only includes those with a passion for golf who are keen to improve their game and get more actively involved with their sport, making them a very attractive target audience.”

Before launching the database to the wider market, The Golfers Club trialed a data set with its retail partner Direct Golf UK to monitor its success. The results were impressive, with a high level of response from consumers.

James Toase, head of marketing for Direct Golf UK, said, “Direct Golf UK is delighted to be the retail partner for The Golfers Club and we have enjoyed great success using their active e-database, capturing new customers and generating sales.”

To maintain the integrity of the data, use of the database will be limited. The rental rate to target these golfers is £150 per 000, which includes broadcasting and in-depth reporting. Companies are also able to target smaller numbers, down to a minimum of 5,000.
