New E-Z-GO distributor offers free demonstrations

12.10am 11th August 2000 - Corporate

An increasing number of golf clubs in the North West of England and the Midlands are taking up the offer of a free demonstration of the E-Z-GO golf car.

Pros at several golf clubs seeking to speed up the rate of play are trying out the Textron E-Z-GO which is available for hire or purchase from Burrows (GM) who are now into their second season as official dealers.

As the popularity of courses in tourist areas such as North Wales and the Fylde Coast grows through increased membership and visitors, pros see the golf car as the way forward. The vehicle is also a boon to golfers who not only have handicaps – but disabilities.

Earlier this year Burrows (GM) established a new industrial division to meet the needs of golf clubs and provide users with a first-class after-sales service. Carden Park, Broxton, Mere and Mollington Grange are all users of the E-Z-GO with the Nicklaus-designed Broxton course having as many as 74 on their fairways.

Shaun Wynne, sales manager of Burrows Industrial, is giving the pros free demos of the electric and petrol versions of the E-Z-GO so that they can make up their own mind which type is best suited to their course.

The electric version of the E-Z-GO, which is the top of the range PDS model, has an anti-roll away feature to prevent the car from rolling down a bank should a golfer leave the seat without applying the handbrake.

The vehicle has re-generative charging so that the car will charge the batteries and put five percent of the power pack into the batteries on downward slopes.

Both electric and petrol versions have independent suspensions and tyres which prevent scuffing of the grass when the vehicle is in motion, such as turning. They have rack and pinion steering, a fuel gauge or charge meter, and the petrol version has a two-cylinder engine which is balanced for quietness.

Burrows (GM) supply E-Z-GO’s on long term or short-term hire as well as the opportunity to purchase together with parts and service back up from their Leyland, Stafford and Denbigh depots. They serve Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Staffordshire, North Wales and Shropshire.
