Mission Hills Group has announced its joint venture with world-leading hotel company, Marriott International. This shows the development of the Ritz-Carlton and Renaissance Hotels at Mission Hills Haikou.

With a total investment of RMB1.3 billion, both hotels will open to the public in the second quarter of 2015. It will be the first golf hotel management project operated by Marriott International in the Greater China region.

Dr. Ken Chu, Chairman and CEO of Mission Hills Group, said, “The Ritz-Carlton will offer 180 rooms and 20 villas whereas The Renaissance will have over 300 keys. It will be the icing on Mission Hills’ Haikou development of a township of 300 shops and Hainan’s first ever real ice skating. Our partnership will yield both economic and cultural benefits to the local tourism industry, while offering guests the ultimate golf and holiday experience.”

Simon Cooper, President and Managing Director of Marriott International, Asia-Pacific, added, “Hainan represents a massive growth market for the hotel industry, and it’s a market which Marriott International is very keen on. Mission Hills’ vision is impressive, and we look forward to our ground breaking partnership providing visitors to Mission Hills Hainan.”

The new Ritz-Carlton hotel is designed by AECOM, a Fortune 500 design and engineering company, and HBA, one of the top interior design consultants. It will feature traditional oriental design blended with contemporary living in an intimate setting. The design will offer discerning guests a completely new golf vacation destination.

The Renaissance Hotel style will be modern and sophisticated. It will be surrounded by green space and trees, thereby creating a natural harmony with the environment. It will also incorporate the latest sustainable technology to provide guests with first-class leisure facilities and an unparalleled vacation experience.

Mission Hills Haikou lies in the volcanic region of exotic Hainan Island, China. The resort sets a new standard in leisure, recreation and wellness experiences. Nestled amid lush and green gardens, it caters to golf enthusiasts and has specially-designed golf courses, each incorporating native lava rock formations.

Other state-of-the-art features include 518 elegantly-designed guest rooms and suites, a three-story clubhouse, China’s first Hank Haney Golf Academy, conference facilities, 12 world-class restaurants, a fully-equipped sports and recreation centre, Hainan’s only aquatic theme park, therapeutic volcanic mineral springs, a spa oasis and a shopping arcade.

Mission Hills Haikou’s Blackstone Course hosted the inaugural Mission Hills Star Trophy in October 2010, a ground-breaking celebrity pro-am golf tournament for Asia. It will also host the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in November 2011. As a magnificent addition to Hainan’s tropical island paradise, Mission Hills is poised to become the island’s premier sanctuary, attracting visitors from around the globe.
