LIV Golf, the Saudi PIF-backed company behind the launch of the new LIV Golf Invitational Series and the Asian Tour’s International Series, has announced two key new additions to its growing roster of staff.
American Matt Goodman has been appointed President of Franchises, while Laurence Miller takes on the role as Vice President, Head of Franchise Operations.
As President of Franchises, Goodman will lead strategy and operations for LIV Golf’s 12 teams, including developing league and team policies, revenue, branding, and innovation throughout the business.
Goodman previously served as COO/CCO at New York City Football Club in the US, overseeing all commercial functions including corporate partnerships, ticket sales, premium seating, consumer and brand marketing, business intelligence and analytics, as well as youth programs. Over the course of his career, Goodman has held key roles with the NBA, Cleveland Browns, Madison Square Garden Company, and Mandalay Sports and Entertainment.
“LIV Golf is at the forefront of opportunity and innovation in the sport and I look forward to leading a team that reimagines how players and fans consume and participate in this game we all love,” said Goodman.
England-born Miller joins LIV Golf from Manchester United, where he served as the Director of Revenue Strategy, responsible for leading the club’s sponsorship strategy and operations divisions. Miller developed a global, regional and product segmentation sponsorship strategy that contributed to significant commercial growth, including the signing of new global and principal agreements. Prior to joining Manchester United, Miller specialised in capital markets as a manager at Accenture, a global leader in consulting and information technology services.
“This team is passionate about establishing a creative concept where our players and franchises drive deeper fan engagement and inspire more people to play this great game, and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” said Miller.
Goodman will be based in the New York office and Miller in the London office. Both have already transitioned into their new roles and will report into Atul Khosla, LIV Golf’s Chief Operating Officer.
“Both Matt and Laurence bring a wealth of experience building global sports brands, so we are thrilled to have them help us establish and grow our franchises from the ground up,” said Khosla. “These hires enhance our diverse group of industry leaders, and they will be instrumental in helping us push new boundaries in golf that will grow the game in new and exciting ways.”
