World of Leading Golf (WLG), an international organisation representing some of the world’s best golf venues, has welcomed its first member from the Middle East: the world-renowned Yas Links, in Abu Dhabi.

Sprawled out along almost two miles of sandy Arabian Gulf coast, just a stone’s throw from the world-class motor racing circuit, signature hotels and theme parks of Yas Island, the Kyle Phillips’ design was the first links course in the Middle East. Measuring 7,414 yards off the tips, Yas Links took more than three years to construct and has eight holes abutting the coastline itself.

It is ranked number one in the Middle East and #46 in the world by Golf Digest; and it sits at #62 in the world ranking with Platinum Clubs of the World.

Claus Feldt, WLG’s general manager, added: “WLG began as a European venture but the organisation’s wholehearted commitment to only the very highest standards has attracted interest from across the globe. Yas Links is the first venue in the Middle East to meet our exacting requirements and we are delighted to be able to welcome such a stunning venue into the fold. It may be the first from the region to join but I fervently hope – and believe – it will not be the last.”

WLG focuses on marketing and communication platforms for certified premium clubs in order to promote awareness. Print and on-line publications serve as reference guides for the demanding golfer, while ‘members only’ travel offers and other advantages help deepen the relationship between the designated golfers and WLG member clubs.
